What Is Changing?
BGCEV's administrative offices have relocated to the Shasta campus.
Our Coleman Clubhouse at Westmoreland Park remains fully operational and continues to serve youth
and families through after-school, summer, and teen programs.
In Bethel, BGCEV has served youth for years through spaces shared with our school district partners. The Shasta campus gives us room to grow, allowing us to serve more young people while creating opportunities for future investment in facilities, programs, and partnerships.
This is not the beginning of our work in Bethel. It is the next step in a long-standing commitment to the youth and families we serve.
Why Shasta?
For years, our Bethel programs have operated in a limited amount of shared space. The Shasta campus gives us the opportunity to think bigger.
With additional space and a long-term agreement, we can continue meeting today's needs while planning for the future. It creates room for youth programming, community partnerships, volunteer engagement, and long-term improvements that can benefit the community for years to come.
We are especially grateful to Bethel School District, whose partnership and shared commitment to young people helped make this opportunity possible.
More Than a Building
Like many communities, Bethel has experienced school closures as enrollment patterns have changed.
Rather than seeing a shuttered school sit empty, we see an opportunity to keep it filled with life.
We see classrooms filled with learning, hallways filled with young people, and spaces where community groups can gather, connect, and serve one another. Our hope is that Shasta continues to be a place where the broader community can come together, just as schools have traditionally done.
We see a campus that continues to fulfill its original purpose: supporting the community and investing in the next generation.
The Opportunity Ahead
The Shasta campus is already serving youth today, but we believe there is even greater potential ahead. Over time, we hope to:
- Improve and modernize learning and meeting spaces
- Create welcoming environments for youth and families
- Expand opportunities for teens
- Support community partnerships and shared use of the campus
- Provide gathering space for nonprofit, civic, and community groups
- Preserve the campus as a vibrant community asset
This work will happen over many years as resources become available and partnerships continue to grow.
Looking Forward
When we look at the Shasta campus, we see possibility.
We see youth learning, growing, and building relationships with caring adults.
We see community organizations working together to create opportunities and strengthen connections.
We see a former school continuing to serve the people of Bethel in new and meaningful ways.
Most of all, we see an opportunity to make thoughtful investments that will benefit young people, families, and the broader community for generations to come.
